The global market—especially in Europe—is experiencing a steady growth in the use of biocontrol solutions for plant protection. Consumer demand for certified organic food products, the market opportunities this creates for producers, processors, and distributors, as well as the continuous reduction in the number of active substances allowed in agriculture, are all strong drivers accelerating this trend.
The “From Farm to Fork” and “Biodiversity 2030” strategies aim to triple the area of organic farmland and reduce pesticide use by 50% by 2030.
At the same time, the primary sector—and every component along its supply chain—has had to quickly adapt to this shift, often by turning to alternatives to conventional methods used for decades.
The challenges of this transition are numerous and well known to those working in the field.
But can biological products be developed, tested, and used according to the same principles as chemical products?
